Overview
Not around the day of voting or not feeling up to heading to the polls on election day? You can vote early in Minnesota with an absentee ballot starting 46 days before Election Day.
There are two options to vote early by absentee:
Vote Early by Mail
Notice: Requesting an absentee ballot online this close to Election Day is not recommended |
It may take several days for your absentee ballot to arrive in the mail. There may not be enough time for you to receive and return your ballot by Election Day. Your vote will not count if received after Election Day. |
This option is the most convenient method of voting absentee since you don't have to leave your residence! Follow these steps to vote by mail:
- Apply online (federal, state, and county elections only)
- Apply by mail for the November 5, 2024 general election: Application form and return to Carver County (email, and address can be found on the back of the form)
Upon receipt of your application, a ballot will be mailed to you. For your ballot to count, remember this important information:
- Read the instructions that come with your ballot carefully.
- You will need a witness when you vote and complete your ballot. The witness can be either a registered Minnesota voter or a notary.
- Mail the ballot and forms back right away after you finish. Your ballot will not count if it is received after Election Day.
