Purpose

The Economic Development Commission (EDC) is an advisory body to the Economic Development Authority (EDA). The EDC consists of six members, five of which are a combination of residents and business community representatives, and one youth member who is either a resident or attends High School in Chanhassen. The City Council appoints regular commission members for staggered three-year terms expiring on March 31 of each year. The City Council appoints youth members for one-year terms expiring on August 31 of each year.

Goals

As an advisory commission, the EDC is responsible for developing a strategic plan for economic development for the city, including long-range strategies for economic development consistent with the Comprehensive Plan.

The Chanhassen EDA is a local government agency for the City of Chanhassen. The purpose of this agency is to assist with development and redevelopment projects in the city. The EDA is made up of members of the City Council.
