Responsibilities & Services

The primary task of the Building Inspection Division is to provide for the city's health, safety, and welfare through the administration of building and fire codes. The department is responsible for:

  • Permit issuance and inspections of buildings, plumbing and mechanical systems, fire sprinkler and alarm systems, and individual sewage treatment systems
  • Plan reviews
  • Responsible for inspections of existing buildings for fire code violations, and administration of septic tank and RPZ maintenance programs

Our office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Feel free to call the Building Inspections Division at (952) 227-1180 with any questions.
