Produced in 2017, the City of Chanhassen's Parks and Recreation System Plan sets the direction for parks and recreation in Chanhassen for the next 20 years. The System Plan weighs community needs and desires with financial realities while ensuring the parks and recreation system continues to meet community needs now and in the future.
Developing the system plan was a year-long planning effort that began in 2016 and represents input gathered from the community, key stakeholders, city staff, and city officials.

Community Engagement
Various community engagement strategies were utilized during the System Plan development process to ensure the Plan was reflective of community needs and desires. Parks & Recreation System Plan Receives American Planning Association Minnesota Chapter's (APA MN) 2018 Excellence in Community Engagement Award
Chanhassen's Parks and Recreation System Plan received the 2018 American Planning Association Minnesota Chapter's (APA MN) Excellence in Community Engagement Award. This award recognizes communities that institute successful community engagement as part of an approval process, specifically using community engagement tools as part of a land-use or planning process that leads to ultimate project success.
