Every spring, the Street Maintenance Department sweeps the city streets to remove debris left behind by the winter snow and ice control operations. Sweeping up the debris keeps it out of the storm drains, lakes, and wetlands.

Street crews begin sweeping operations as soon as weather permits and continue until all the streets have been swept at least once. Sweeping is also done throughout the year as needed.

The Street Maintenance Department trims overgrown trees, bushes, etc., and mows grass and weeds within the city’s right-of-way, obstructing traffic sight lines at intersections and blocking traffic control and street signs.

If you observe a situation where sight lines or signage are obstructed, contact the Street Department at (952) 227-1300.

Note: Tree trimming to keep overhead power lines clear is conducted by the electric company providing the service (Xcel Energy or Minnesota Valley Electric Company), not the city.

Tree Limb Disposal

Tree branches, brush, and leaves can be disposed of by contacting your garbage hauler. The city seasonally accepts yard waste at the Chanhassen Public Works site. For more information, please visit our Yard Waste page.

The Carver County Environmental Center no longer accepts tree limbs.
