The primary task of the building inspection team is to provide for the city's health, safety, and welfare through the administration of building and fire codes.

Planning

Planning and Zoning reviews development plans for consistency with land use and city regulations, as well as providing enforcement of Chapter 20, Zoning of the City Code. Statistical information, including demographics, building activity, projects, and land available for development, is maintained. The department may conduct special studies on the Zoning Code or Comprehensive Plan.

Natural Resources

The City of Chanhassen recognizes the importance and value of its natural environment to the quality of life of its citizens. The city offers programs and services that enhance, protect, or restore these resources. Services include community gardens, forestry, water conservation programs, and recycling and refuse.
