Overview

The city is implementing its annual stormwater pond maintenance project (see project map below). These project locations were chosen based on the comprehensive survey and subsequent prioritization of the city’s entire network of stormwater ponds completed in the fall of 2020. This is the first project in what is anticipated to be a robust annual stormwater pond maintenance program. This work will be paid for utilizing the Surface Water Management Fees collected with utility bills and new developments, with no additional cost to property owners.

The general scope of work includes:

  • Removing obstructions to access the ponds.
  • Cleaning out accumulated sediment.
  • Stabilizing eroded areas.
  • Repairing storm pipes and structures.
  • Restoring the disturbed areas.

All work will be performed within city-owned easements. The 2021 projects are currently moving into construction, with the final restoration occurring in spring 2022.

Access to the ponds will differ at each location, and the city will work with adjacent property owners before and during construction to communicate the scope of work. Some trees and other vegetation may need to be removed to access each pond.
