Overview

As part of the city's 5-yr Capital Improvement Plan, we will install a second sanitary sewer force main from the existing Lift Station (#3) on the north side of Hwy 7 to W. 62nd St, along the alignment of Cartway Ln. The installation will use trenchless technology (drilling), but there will be extensive excavations on the north and south end of the project. There will be impacts to the road surface and surrounding greenspace, which will be restored with the project, but there will be short-term impacts to traffic and vehicular access. Effects specific to certain properties will be discussed with the property owners, and an open house is planned for October 5. The project is currently out for bids, with construction scheduled for the late fall.

The project aims to proactively manage the city's sewer assets to provide redundancy and life cycle replacement. The existing force main was installed in 1971 and is approaching its life expectancy. Lift Station #3 serves a large area of the city and is an essential and critical asset that needs to be managed closely.
