The city charges for water used by its residents and businesses. This is done by measuring water flow via a water meter. A radio sends the data to the city's Finance Department for Utility Billing.  

Most water meters and radios are located in the utility room or basement of your home or business. Your meter should look like one of the styles shown in these images. The display on the meter reads in gallons.

The meter is accompanied by a radio which communicates usage data to the city. The radio is shown in the following image:

The radio communicates via a ± 900 MHX frequency and transmits the data to various collectors across the city. The collectors are commonly found atop water towers and emergency siren poles. An FAQ on radio communication technology can be found here
