Pet Identification

The City of Chanhassen does not require pet licenses, but cats and dogs must have some identification on them that would assist animal control in contacting the owner. Types of titles include:

• Microchips
• Veterinarian-issued rabies tags
• Any tags or collars with contact information and phone numbers inscribed on them

Rabies Vaccinations

All dogs and cats over six months of age and kept as pets must be vaccinated against rabies.

Commercial Kennel License

Commercial kennels located within the City of Chanhassen must obtain a commercial kennel license.

Commercial Kennel License Application

• $25.00 application fee
• The property will be inspected to ensure it meets all city code requirements.
