Overview
Per Section 16-31 of the Chanhassen City Code, "no person shall haul mixed municipal solid waste or recyclables collected in the city without first securing a license from the city."
Licenses shall be valid for one calendar year and shall expire on December 31 of each year unless revoked sooner.
Application Requirements
The following documents are required with each new license application or renewal:
- City of Chanhassen License Application
- State of Minnesota License Applicant Information Form
- Certificate of Compliance for Minnesota Workers' Compensation Law
- Certificate of Liability Insurance:
- The City of Chanhassen must be listed as a certificate holder.
- The policy must be effective for the entire license period, i.e., January 1 through December 31, or must state that coverage is continuous until canceled.
- Solid Waste Disclosure form (copy) per Minnesota Statute 115A.9302
- $300 Application Fee
Residential Collection Requirements
If you provide service to residences, including apartments, you must provide recycling containers and weekly or bi-weekly curbside collection of recyclable material.
Commercial Collection Requirements
Per state regulations, all buildings that contract for four (4) cubic yards or more of trash per week must be recycling at least three (3) materials, effective January 1, 2016.
